Company setup

After you can reach Today (the home dashboard), spend a few minutes on shop defaults. Most of this lives under Account and Team.

Open Account (sidebar on desktop, More on a phone).

Typical owner controls:

  • Company name — what the crew sees in the app header
  • Default tax rate — used when building estimates and invoices (TODO: confirm the exact field label if it changes)
  • Technician inventory mode — how techs log parts (off, job parts only, or van/warehouse stock). See Inventory.
  • Parts required to complete a job — when this is on (and inventory is not off), a tech cannot mark a job Completed until they log a part or confirm no parts were used

Save before leaving the page.

Open Team (the screen title in the app is Technicians).

Owners can set a company depot address — the starting point Cool Route uses when it orders a tech’s stops for the day. Address lookup talks to Google and needs a network connection.

Details: Schedule & routing.

Under settings you will see Price book. Use it so estimates and invoices pull consistent labor and material lines instead of typing every price on the truck. TODO: expand with field-by-field steps once the editor copy is stable.

Import existing customers or jobs (optional)

Section titled “Import existing customers or jobs (optional)”

Import can bring customers and jobs from Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Jobber, or a custom spreadsheet. Run a small test file first. TODO: document each wizard step after a production import pass.

  • Do not create a second company “just to try” if you already subscribed — each signup is a separate shop.
  • Do not use Demo HVAC Co as if it were your production company. That name is demo sample data.
