Schedule & routing
Cool Route splits when people work (Schedule) from drive order (Today’s route).
Schedule board
Section titled “Schedule board”Open Schedule. You can switch week and day, jump dates, and (as owner/admin) filter by technician.
- Scheduled jobs appear on the board with time, customer, and assignee.
- Unscheduled jobs sit to the side until you give them a time and tech.
Technicians only see their load. Owners and senior techs can see the company.
TODO: document drag-and-drop vs edit-job as the supported way to reschedule if the board behavior is still changing.
Assigning work
Section titled “Assigning work”From Jobs or a job page, set:
- Assigned technician
- Date and time (
scheduled at) - Urgency (standard, same-day, emergency, and so on)
Same-day and emergency jobs still need a real time if you want them on the route.
Company depot
Section titled “Company depot”On Team, set the shop / warehouse depot address. Routing uses it as the start of the day. Geocoding requires a network. If the depot is blank, stop order may be weaker or unavailable — TODO: confirm the exact empty-depot message.
Today’s route
Section titled “Today’s route”Open Today’s route (/dashboard/route) to order one technician’s stops for a date.
- Owners can pick which technician.
- Cool Route can optimize order; opening Google Maps directions needs a network and a device with Maps.
- Google limits how many waypoints fit in one directions link. Very long days may need a second map open. TODO: document the cap in-product if we surface it.
Routing is an aid, not a guaranteed ETAs product. Weather, parts runs, and callbacks still belong to the dispatcher.
